The Shaman’s Journey is challenging but incredibly rewarding. Our approach is to provide training that is appropriate to every student’s goals.
Studying shamanism will change you profoundly and permanently. You will walk this earth more gently and reverently and see the world through different eyes. Our foundational courses assume no prior knowledge or experience and are ideal for anyone who is called to bring shamanism into their life. For those who want to continue their education, we offer courses that explore shamanism more deeply and profoundly—all the way to becoming a shamanic healer or teacher.

How do I know where to start in the program? If you have little or no previous shamanic training, begin with the introductory course. If you have trained with other schools or teachers, contact us to help you determine where to start.

Do I have to take the in-person intensives to complete the program? You are free to take all of the online training without the intensives. However, shamanic rites, initiations, and completion certificates are only offered to students who complete the intensives. If you have a disability that prevents you from traveling, please contact us about alternatives to the intensives.
How long does the program take to complete and how much time would I need to commit? Shamanism is best studied on a path that allows for integration of the teachings and practices. Upon completion, our students are comfortable and experienced in using the techniques and healing forms that are taught in class. New classes begin approximately every 3 months and most students will complete the courses required for a certificate in 3 years. You should be prepared to spend 2 hours per week in virtual classrooms with other students plus another 2 hours each week on homework.
Why does the program take so long to complete? Is there a way to do it more quickly? The short answer is: no. In traditional shamanic cultures apprentices spend decades training with their teachers. This model does not work in the modern world. We have designed our program to balance the time it takes to complete your training against the needs of the modern world. Our goal is to graduate students who are prepared to be full-fledged shamanic practitioners, not just individuals with a lot of theory but little hands-on practice.
