Kim Leyland was born in Adelaide, South Australia. "As a young child I spent a lot of time on the beach, out on the sea, or in the countryside talking to the fairies and nature spirits and developed a love of nature that continued and grew when I moved to Central Australia in the 1980s. It is an honor to be able to live and work here in Alice Springs. In the last few years I have spent a lot of time working with young people, encouraging and supporting their spiritual growth, knowing from my own experience how important that is, and in the process learning so much myself."
Kim completed an Arts and Psychology Honors degree prior to working and living in Alice Springs. Later studies include a postgraduate diploma in Health Promotion. She has worked as a child and adolescent psychologist, fitness leader, and shamanic healer - mind, body and soul!
Kim has been studying spiritual healing practices since the 1980s. Her studies have taken her to Indonesia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
"I had a life-changing healing experience in the early nineties. I subsequently had consistent experiences when working with people of seeing what I now know are spiritual intrusions, and also seeing soul parts wanting to return. Often clients' loved ones who had passed over would appear, needing help to move on. I remember saying to the spirit world: ‘If you want me to do something with this I really need some help.’ The helping spirits came and helped as they have been doing ever since. It was with some relief and a great amount of joy that The Foundation for Shamanic Studies also came to Australia at that time and I commenced training.
“I continue to study with the Foundation and relish every opportunity I have to learn more. Shaun and I now teach in Australia and New Zealand. I am passionate about opportunities I receive to become spiritually empowered, and delight in this wonderful opportunity we have to facilitate this process for others through teaching for the Foundation.”
